Continuing Medical Education
The Geriatric Medicine Department conducts continuing medical education in three main areas: Grand Rounds, Geriatric Clinic ECHO and Care Home ECHO.
Schedule: Second Monday of each month from 12:30 to 1:30pm Hawaii time.
Grand Rounds is a joint venture between the Hawaii Medical Association and the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai’i. The Department of Geriatric Medicine is pleased to provide Grand Rounds on a variety of geriatric related topics. Grand Rounds is intended for doctors, nurses, and other allied health care professionals who provide care to geriatric patients.
Geriatric Clinic ECHO
Schedule: Second Wednesday of each month from 12:00 to 1:00pm Hawaii time.
The Geriatric Clinic ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) are one hour webinars with topics designed for medical and health care professional as well as social workers, caretakers and others who work with the elderly. Topics cover a full range of areas involving elder care such as medical conditions, social services, dementia, nutrition and dysphagia.
Care Home ECHO
Schedule: Third Thursday of each month from 2:00 to 3:00pm Hawaii time.
Care Home ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) webinars are one hour sessions covering topics essential for care home and foster home operators. Topics include the 4Ms of geriatrics: What Matters, Medication, Mentation (or Mind) and Mobility which are based on evidence-based practices that support healthy aging.
